Dharma of the Day #10

The little surprises of life

Are the bounty

With which the universe

Sweetens

When things seem hard

The Dao sends us flowers

For us to inhale

Fragrant

Amidst all the hubris

Petals fall cadent

Upon the breeze

Lightness

Wait only for the flute

And its subtle keys

It caresses your being

Listening

When your spirit flags

It is your salve

And your nectar

Soothing

Let the cosmos

Be your nurse

And your healer

Starlight

Open your palms

And take your alms

Humble and secure

Belonging

To find your place

Which always awaits

A monkey puzzle

Pendant

To ease back on tension

And to trust

Abandon to your Soul

Willingly

Then like a leaf in a stream

You can eddy

And dance the currents

Free

Have no fear of weirs

They are man made

Rivers know so much more

Wisdom

Journey always

With open heart

For it has a succour

Most subtle

Be as fluid as now

And do this often

A silken scarf, blowing

No aim

Ease off those shoulders

Breathe in and out

Especially out

Exhale

Now find your most

Authentic centre

And become, truly

A Star!!

Dharma of the Day #3

do not see apparent adversity as bad

rather see it as doorway, a garland

with which to decorate the new

within every challenge can be found

a seed which might germinate

into new experience and knowledge

all seeds whilst they are rooting

need careful care and attention

and newly sprouted stems

need to be rotated else they acquire bias

the germination of knowledge

is an act of love

which when tended, brings bounty

it is an act of receptivity to the spirit

knowledge which arrives quickly

is not so profound as that which

takes longer to mature,

much like vintage wine aged in its cask

vintage wine has more nuance

than that fresh from the vine

it has more depth and a subtle aroma

when wisdom arrives

it is like an old slipper

familiar to the foot

and slightly battered around the edges

it is not possible to attain wisdom

in the absence of trial

for all things have a price

only this one seems to be of better value

in learning to tend a garden

one learns much about Dao

and rhythm and seasoning

it makes one a better cook

in the Zen of gardening

hurry and haste are soon found

not to have any place

complete absorption in the moment

 –

in this manner one learns much

about the present

inherent in any gift of power

and all about, economy

better to tend a small garden well

than to take on a country estate

beauty in the small

heals the heart

in tending a garden

one tends one’s own heart

this teaches one

a sense of inner love

And what could be wrong with that?

Dharma of the Day

self importance is a root cause of suffering

both for the self

and the others you inflict it upon

your self image is a pack of lies

insistence upon its reality

causes suffering and impedes evolution

if you are sure you are not being separative

then in your conviction

you most certainly are

unless omniscience is a quality you own

behaving as if you have the consciousness of a God

is inconsistent with reality

the wisdom of humanity

is an oxymoron

in nearly every case

pride and arrogance are also

root causes of suffering

they stem from the same germ

the desire for and enactment of revenge

not only causes dual suffering

it is one of the most karmically damaging things a being can do

clinging in all its forms suffocates

better to release a dove from a cage

than to watch it wither and die

living a redemptive life

not only eases suffering

but gains karmic merit

whilst karmic debt persists

enlightenment is not possible

and rebirth consequently inevitable

power over another being is an illusion

such illusory power is corporeal

and therefore has no reality

at the level of the dreamer there is no such thing

the primal root of all suffering

is individuating identity upon carnation

all beings resent this

few have sufficient knowledge to see this

emptying the cup of karma removes all suffering

this is the way to Bodhi mind

and eventual liberation

actions beget karma

redemptive action works this off

there is no other way
